Q: Does SMD accept private insurance or Medicare?
A: No, SMD has created this website to offer the
lowest prices possible in the industry, direct to the retail consumer. SMD feels deeply saddened by the increase in rental (co-pay) rates that are afflicted to the retail customer for
medical devices. You are required to pay these outrageous prices at an alarming rate over a period of time, while you still do not own the product. In addition, there is a
huge lack of customer service from the prescribed service
provider.
There is also a regulatory problem when you DO NOT have a choice to what provider you
can use to provide your prescribed medical device. In this case, the insurance company ONLY
works with the contracted provider thus eliminating competition. You are just another number, especially with "national providers," where it is all about making money. SMD specializes in allowing you to make a choice, with live support available to make sure that we give you those choices and that you are making the correct ones.
Q: Do we handle warranty issues?
A: Yes, we are one of the FEW online retailers that will back up any claim that the product purchased is working correctly and you understand how to use it properly. Whatever the manufacturer's warranty is, we will honor it. We will simply send you a new one at no cost
to you, versus sending you parts for you to have to figure out how to fix yourself or even worse left to deal directly with the manufacturer.
Q: What if I live in your 5 state distributed area (Arizona, Nevada, New Mexico, Colorado and West Texas)?
A: We will take your purchase and send you to a local independently owned dealer to pick the order up and with this you will receive free freight. The local independent dealer is by far the best serviced and knowledgeable group in the medical industry and it is very important for you to build a local relationship with the dealer.
Q: Do you need a prescription to order from us if it is required?
A: If it is required by law the answer is yes. In this case, you are agreeing to the sole
responsibility to make sure that you do have a prescription for the order and that you do have the prescription in hand prior to shipment of the product to
you. Please call us to find out if a prescription is required for any product purchased with SMD.
