Vision and Strategy of Southern Medical DistributorsAs a medical equipment distributor, it is important to own and have control over the product. In the healthcare equipment industry, this is unheard of. Manufacturers are represented by sales reps, who act as liaison between the customer and manufacturer. These sales reps have no control over product or service. SMD has incorporated a distribution model that allows us to buy in bulk from the manufacturer and establish control over our inventory, thus allowing us to pass along our savings and deliver the best service to our customers. This distribution model, known as the 3-tier system, is used by most industries that manufacture durable products in order to satisfy customer's demands. We also pioneered the first National Rental of Independent Dealers program to offer rentals nationwide and with this model we have the ability to service warranties at the point of care. We are proud to be the only On-line Retailer of Durable Medical Equipment to offer 24/7 service to our customers and we strive to bring you the best product, great service and excellent prices in this industry.

Rob Remitz is the CEO and founder of Southern Medical Distributors (founded January of 2006). He started SMD by personally investing over $200,000. Mr. Remitz is responsible for regional field operations including marketing, sales, alliances, manufacturer relations, customer service, programs, retail website, and corporate strategy. |
| Mr. Remitz answers all sales calls because he understands the importance of offering his 14 plus year experience in the Durable Medical Industry to make sure that all customers get what they need. You can trust him to get it right and even after hours. Prior to SMD, Mr. Remitz worked at a medical supplier, Texas Medical, as the territory manager. He started the division in Arizona and facilitated a growth from zero sales to over $400,000 a month from 2003 - 2005. Prior to working in the healthcare equipment industry, Mr. Remitz worked for one of the largest liquor manufacturers in the world, Allied Domecq (Hiram Walker and Sons, Inc.) in sales management. Here is where Mr. Remitz learned the 3-tier distribution system and has been the first to incorporate it into the durable medical equipment industry. |
| Mr. Remitz holds a B.A. in Organizational Communication from Murray State University in Kentucky, where he was on a golf scholarship and letter achiever. He uses his father’s mentality of “we are the hardest working group in the industry” today, similar to how his dad ran his beer distributor in Austin, Texas. |
